MEC highlights from 12/16 (cred Tai)
Again, since I've fallen behind, I'm not going to go back to older meeting notes:
There has been approval (don't ask me for details of by whom, at what level) for a new Antioch Health Center, i.e. a new building, that would combine physical and mental health. I know nothing yet about the timeline.
CHC 2 and NRHC have had ongoing SBIRT and depression screening of adult patients (goal is to do it yearly). This is spreading to WCHC and will eventually spread to all sites
There are discussions with the Wright Institute about spreading our collaboration with them to another site, possibly PHC. The Wright Institute currently has representatives at WCHC And MHC.
Kaiser will be making available soon (I don't know details) "Care Everywhere", the portion of ccLink that lets us get their records. Yeah!
Bay Point is testing Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances (EPCS).
There were two "never supposed to happen" events in the operating rooms in the hospital. This is leading to investigation and will likely lead to fines. The investigation could spread to the outpatient setting, too.
Pathology department will be rolling out HPV co-testing for pap smears, to get our organization in accordance with some 2012 guidelines. I'm thinking the new guidelines might be a useful topic for the next DFM retreat.
The lab instituted a new workflow at MHC that dramatically reduced patient wait. They plan to roll out same changes to PHC and WCHC.
There are ongoing meetings of a subcommittee to examine restructuring the medical staff. Dave Solomon and Krista Farey are DFM representatives.
Early May, we will upgrade to Epic 2012. This should not impact us too much (it will happen in the wee hours of a night). It impacts more the underpinnings, rather than what we see.
